Head of the delegation of the Syrian opposition
Popular Front for Change and Liberation (PFCL) Qadri Jamil hailed as
substantive the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy
Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
"The talks proved that the two sides hold identical views on almost all
issues relating to the Syrian crisis," Jamil told reporters here on Friday.
"The two sides are unanimous on the two essential issues of opposition to
any foreign military intervention in Syria and the need to capitalize on the
new conditions for launching an all-inclusive national dialogue without any
preconditions," he revealed.
Jamil appreciated the stances of Russia and China at the UN Security
Council which helped prevent foreign intervention in the Syrian affairs.
Nevertheless, he said, there is a serious indirect intervention.
He noted that there are some forces inside the Syrian regime that are
opposed to any genuine dialogue with the opposition, preferring maneuvers and
delaying tactics.
He criticized the regime for using excessive force and repression against
the popular protests since the very beginning.
"The PFCL will contest the parliamentary elections of May with 48
candidates but if the government failed to create the necessary conditions for
free and transparent elections, the front will pull out its candidates even
the winning ones from the process," he added. |
