Kuwaiti Consulate in Guangzhou inaugurates new office

Kuwait's Consulate General in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou inaugurated its new office on the sidelines of the visit by Kuwait Capital Governor Sheikh Ali Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, which coincides with the signing of a twinning agreement between the cities of Kuwait and Guangzhou. In his speech at an opening ceremony, Kuwaiti Consul General in Guangzhou Abdulwahab Al-Sager expressed hope that the governor's visit here will take excellent relations with China, and Guangzhou in particular, a quantum leap forward, noting the close ties between the peoples of Kuwait and China as well as the two countries' leadership's keenness to further boost ties. "Bilateral trade reached more than USD 1 billion by the end of last year, and we will spare no effort to achieve the objectives, including the completion of a twinning agreement between the cities of Ahmadi and Zhanjiang in the near future," Al-Sager said. The diplomat also said his consulate will be closely following final signing of the joint venture between Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and China's Sinopec to build an oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Zhanjiang city. The opening ceremony was attended by Zhanjiang City Vice Mayor Zhao Zhihui, Head of the Chinese Center for International Trade Wang Jiping, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province Caifang and other senior Chinese officials. Diplomats, a large number of actors and media figures based in Guangzhou were also present.
