Kuwait's Consulate General in the
southern Chinese city of Guangzhou inaugurated its new office on the sidelines
of the visit by Kuwait Capital Governor Sheikh Ali Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah,
which coincides with the signing of a twinning agreement between the cities of
Kuwait and Guangzhou.
In his speech at an opening ceremony, Kuwaiti Consul General in Guangzhou
Abdulwahab Al-Sager expressed hope that the governor's visit here will take
excellent relations with China, and Guangzhou in particular, a quantum leap
forward, noting the close ties between the peoples of Kuwait and China as well
as the two countries' leadership's keenness to further boost ties.
"Bilateral trade reached more than USD 1 billion by the end of last year,
and we will spare no effort to achieve the objectives, including the
completion of a twinning agreement between the cities of Ahmadi and Zhanjiang
in the near future," Al-Sager said.
The diplomat also said his consulate will be closely following final
signing of the joint venture between Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and China's
Sinopec to build an oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Zhanjiang city.
The opening ceremony was attended by Zhanjiang City Vice Mayor Zhao Zhihui,
Head of the Chinese Center for International Trade Wang Jiping, Deputy
