The Austrian police said the body of Libya's former minister of oil Shoukri Ghanem was found floating down the Danube River here at 8:40 am, local time, on Sunday. A passerby found the body under a bridge close to a park here with no signs of violence on it, Austria broadcasting corporation (ORF) quoted police spokesman Roman Hahslinger as saying this evening. The spokesman ruled out foul play or foreign involvement in the case, saying that the man could have fallen unconscious or been hit with a cardiac arrest. The autopsy will determine the cause of the death definitely, Hahslinger added. Ghanem, 69, served as prime minister between 2003 and 2006 and oil minister until early 2011 when the Libyan revolution broke out; he then defected from the regime of Libya's slain leader Muammar Gaddafi and worked as a consultant for a Vienna-based company.
