Egypt's Mohamed El-Saharty won the all-around
individuals at the Arab Championship for Men's Artistic Gymnastics in Kuwait
on Sunday.
The Egyptian, who has already qualified to the London Olympics, took a
maximum 84.25 points in the competition's six events, which include the floor
exercise, the pommel horse, the still rings, the parallel bars and the high
bar, to take home his country's first gold medal.
Syria's Fadi Bahlawan trailed in second with 81.90 points, only a mere
fraction of a point over Tunisian Wajdi Bouallegue, another Olympic finalist.
After receiving his medal, El-Saharty said that Egypt were looking to push
forward for as many medals possible in the competition's coming events over
the next two days.
Gymnasts from 15 nations in the Arab world will be targeting their own
medals in the individuals' three-point event of the floor exercise, the pommel
horse and the still rings on Tuesday. |
