Britain welcomed on Friday the withdrawal of forces which belong to South Sudan from disputed area of Abyei, a move to implement the June 2011 security and management agreement on the region. British Foreign Office Minister for African Affairs Henry Bellingham called, in a press statement, on the Sudanese government to take similar steps and withdraw all of its forces from Abyei immediately and to respect to international resolutions. The British official called on both governments of South Sudan and Sudan to return to negotiation table and work with the African Union and United Nations and find the definitive solution swiftly that would best suit amendments of the African road map plan. Bellingham also noted on positive developments regarding the return of more than 100,000 refugees of Abyei region to their home home, after a year of dislocation, hailing as well the role of UN forces to maintain peace and protect lives there. The minister also called on all parties involved to ease restrictions for the civilians to return home and go back to their day to day activities.
