The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
are scheduled to gather here on Monday for the 14th consultative meeting under
the chairmanship of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz - the current chair of
the GCC Supreme Council.
The meeting will focus on the latest developments on the regional and
international arenas, the GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayyani told
reporters on Saturday.
"The leaders will be briefed on the progress made in the GCC metamorphosis
from cooperation to union in all domains of cooperation since the 32nd GCC
summit, with emphasis being placed on King Abdullah's initiative in this
regard," Dr. Al-Zayyani pointed out.
"They will review the recommendations of the GCC ministerial council
relating to a range of regional and international issues," he said.
The GCC foreign ministers will convene a pre-event meeting Sunday evening
at the GCC headquarters here to prepare for the consultative meeting, he
added. |
