The death toll of the attacks by the regular troops on popular protests across Syria on Saturday rose to twelve, the opposition Local Coordination Committees (LCC) reported. Three fatalities were relocated in each of Hama and Idleb cities, two in each of Homs and Damascus countryside, and one in each of Latakia and Deir Al-Zour, according to an LCC report reaching here from Syria. The government forces attacked with mortar shells and heavy machine guns the Tardin village on the Kurd Mounts on the outskirts of the western Mediterranean port city of Latakia, killing at least one person; they also shelled Al-Kasir, Al-Rastin and Al-Homaidia districts of Homs. Members of a whole family were injured in Al-Kasir and a yet-to-be-specified number of casualties fell in similar attacks on Eastern and Western Meliha towns in Daraa Governorate, south Syria. The regime forces beefed up their presence in Al-Atareb district of Daraa with 50 armored personnel carriers and 30 vehicles carrying heavy machine guns, the LCC statement said, noting that a huge bombing was heard in the district where the government forces were tracking down dissident soldiers.
