Kuwaiti fencers occupied the men's flore podium
stand at the West Asian Fencing Championship held in Kuwait on Sunday.
Yasir Naser took gold as he beat his compatriot Imad Al-Yousif in the final
fight. Bronze was snatched by their colleague Naser Al-Walid.
Similarly, in the women's epee, Qatar snatched all three medals, with
Fatima Dhahi, Fatima Bodahom and Abrar Al-Atef taking each and making it to
the podium respectively.
With only one day left until the end of the three-day competition, Kuwait
remains on the top of the medal count, with seven medals in total - three
gold, two silver and two bronze.
Nine nations are taking part in the regional tournament for the men's; host
nation, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine,
with five in the women's; Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan. |
