Kuwaiti fencers took three more gold medals in the
teams' foil, epee and sabre, as the First West Asian Fencing Championships
came to a close here on Monday.
The host nation also came first on the medals count, with 10 altogether
across the three-day tournament - six gold, two silver and two bronze.
In the last day's team competitions, Qatar trailed with the silver in foil,
with Iraq and Bahrain settling for bronze.
For epee, Iraq took silver followed a joint third for Qatar and Bahrain.
Qatar took another silver in the sabre, with Bahrain and Iraq each sharing
the bronze.
Eight nations took part in the regional tournament for the men's; Kuwait,
Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine, with five in the
women's; Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan. |
