Arab actresses mark 2012 Cannes Film Festival

A number of prominent Arab actresses have been chosen to be part of 65th Cannes Film Festival's judging panel. The world renowned cultural event will take place in Vienna from May 16-27. This year, the Arab presence is more marked. The Egyptian producer and director Marianne Khoury and Algerian actress leila bekhti will be among the jury at the International Critics' Week. The Palestinian actress Hiam Abbas is among the jury of the official competition along with the Italian Filmmaker Nanni Moretti who is also the president of the jury board, English filmmaker Andrea Arnold, French actress Emmanuelle Devos, French Fashion Designer Jean Paul Gaultier, German actress Diane Kruger, Scottish Actor Ewan McGregor and American Filmmaker Alexander Payne and Haitian Filmmaker Raoul Peck. There are 22 films from 17 different countries competing to win Palme d'Or (the Golden Palm) award.
