Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour hoped
Sunday Qatar would reconsider its travel warning decision.
The Qatari warning of its citizens not to travel to Lebanon stemmed from an
incident that took place against a Qatari national, Mansour told reporters
following his return from Qatar where he took part in an economic forum.
"We expressed our wishes to the brothers in Qatar to reconsider the
decision. Lebanon and Qatar are bound to brotherly and solid relations," he
said.
The relations between Lebanon and Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council
(GCC) countries are "larger than any incidents that might happen here or there,
" said Mansour.
Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain advised their citizens
not to travel to Lebanon because of security instability, and for those in
Lebanon to avoid areas of unrest.
Mansour said he would contact the UAE and Bahrain tomorrow to urge them
reconsider their decisions. |
