The Iraqi government is committed to honoring all
international obligations related to Kuwait, particularly returning Kuwait
properties and finding remains of missing Kuwaitis in Iraq, foreign minister
Hoshyar Zebari said Sunday.
Zebari made his comment while receiving UN High-level Coordinator for
missing Kuwaitis and third-country nationals and missing Kuwaiti property,
Zebari explained to Tarasov cooperation between Iraq, Kuwait and
international organizations to ultimately addressing files of Kuwaiti
properties and missing, a foreign ministry statement said.
Zebari also talked about development of ties between Iraq and Kuwait.
He said Iraq sent several trucks to Kuwait containing national archives and
properties, and would continue exerting efforts to locating the rest of
Zebari said Iraq, ICRC and some friendly countries were exerting "serious
efforts" to finding the remains of missing Kuwaitis.
The Iraqi authorities have been searching in official records and in mass
graves in yet another bid to locate whereabouts of the remains, he said, and
has "accomplished good results."
Zebari said his government was committed to honoring its international
obligations and cooperating with Kuwait to ultimately ending Tarasov's mandate
thus exit from the chapter VII of the UN Charter.
Tarasov, noted the statement, said the UN would help Iraq to ironing out
these two files.
