German court sentences German-Afghan to six years on terrorism charges

A German court Tuesday sentenced a German-Afghan man for six years for belonging to two terrorist organizations, the public proseuction said. It said the court in the western city of Koblenz found Ahmad Wali Siddiqui, 37, guilty of being a member in Al-Qaeda and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), charges that Siddiqui admitted. The court accused Siddiqui of training to use weapons and making of bombs in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He was also accused of participating in armed clashes against Afghan, Pakistani and international forces. Meanwhile, the public prosecution said it received from Turkey Thomas U who was arrested in Istanbul in 2010 on charges of being a member in the German Taliban Mujahideen organization.
