Al-Kuwait football team advanced to quarter finals
on Tuesday after defeating Kuwait's Qadsia team in penalty shoot-out 3-1 in
the Asia Football Confederation (AFC) Cup competitions.
The match, held at Mohammad Al-Hamad Stadium, witnessed in the first half
Qadsia leading 1-0, thanks to Syrian Professional Omar Al-Somah in the 12th
minute.
In the second half, Al-Kuwait was able to equalize from a header by
Brazilian international Rogerio de Assis Coutinho in the 59th minute.
At stoppage time, Qadsia's defense player Musaad Neda was sent off after
receiving two yellow cards.
Original time of the match ended in positive draw 1-1, the match then
proceeded to extra time and later to penalty shoot-out which was clinched by
Al-Kuwait 3-1.
Other matches tonight witnessed a similar qualificfation to the quarter
finals by Thailand's Chonburi FC against Iraq's Al-Zawraa 1-0, while Syrian
Shorta secured also its place after beating Singapore Home United 3-0.
Tomorrow, among other matches for the same tournament Kuwaiti Kazma will
host Jordanian Al-Wehdat and Iraqi Irbil will play a home match against
Uzbekistani PFC Neftchi Ferghana. |
