French President Francois Hollande is in
Afghanistan on Friday to meet with Afghani president Hamid Karzai and to
inspect French troops stationed in that country who are expected to be pulled
out by the end of the year, a statement by Holland's office said.
The French president will also meet with representatives of NGOs and take
part in a memorial service for 83 French soldiers who died on duty in
Afghanistan since 2001, said the statement.
Later today, Hollande may hold a press conference with Karzai, according to
expectations by the French press.
Accompanying Hollande on his first visit to Afghanistan are French foreign
