The Spanish Foreign Ministry Sunday condemned in strong terms "the barbaric massacre" which took place in Houla town, Homs Governorate, central Syria, on Friday and led to more than 90 civilian deaths, including 34 children under the age of 10. The government of Spain calls for an urgent probe into the despicable crime, an immediate halt to all forms of violence in Syria, and non-resort to heavy weapons against civilians, a ministry statement said. Spain is following up the regrettable incidents in Syria notably the massacre in Houla and urges the international community to do more efforts to end the suffering of the Syrian people and ensure the safety of all citizens, it underscored. The statement highlighted the need for the conflicting parties to help advance the six-point plan for resolving the conflict peacefully devised by the UN-Arab League joint special envoy Kofi Annan.
