At least 30 people were killed by the regular
troops mainly in Homs city, central Syria, on Sunday, said the opposition
Local Coordination Committees (LCC).
Sixteen civilian fatalities were located in Homs, six in Latakia, three in
Aleppo, two in each of Daraa and Idleb, and one in Damascus.
The government forces intensified the bombardment of Mare', Andan and
Hayyan towns in northern governorate of Aleppo using the artillery and
gunships which led to scores of casualties and the demolition of 20 homes.
They also shelled the Mar'aret Al-Arteeq-Adnan road to prevent the
residents of from fleeing the towns being attacked, according to the LCC
statement received here.
The government used tanks, artillery, missile batteries and heavy machine
guns to attack Al-Khalidia district of Homs.
Similar attacks were reported from the southern governorate of Daraa at a
time when the UN observers visited Al-Yadoura town in Daraa and the
Mediterranean port city of Baniyas to verify the flagrant violations of the
ceasefire brokered by Kofi Annan. |
