An earthquake measuring 6.1 degrees on Richter
Scale rocked the coastal areas in southwestern Turkey Sunday afternoon,
injuring six people.
The quake hit at 1:44 p.m. with its epicenter being located at a depth of
17 km off Oludeniz resort in Mugla province, according to the Kandilli
Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, Bogazici University, here.
The quake injured six people, resulted in extensive damage to the buildings
and caused panic to the residents of the southwestern cities; it was felt as
far as in Beirut, capital of Lebanon. |
