Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi left Tehran for Nicosia, Cyprus, to discuss bilateral ties with senior officials of the country. During his one-day stay, Salehi will meet President Dimitris Christofias and his counterpart, said the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). Developments on the Iranian nuclear file and recent happenings in the Middle East and North Africa regions would be on the table of discussions. Salehi, heading an eco-political delegation, is planned to convey President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's message to his Cypriot counterpart, inviting him to attend the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit meeting to be held in Tehran. As of July, Cyprus is to hold the rotating presidency of the European Union for six months. Its approach during the presidency is to focus on negotiations about the regional developments both in the Middle East and South Africa. Salehi will then proceed to Kazakhstan to participate in the 12th joint economic commission session of the two countries. In Kazakhstan, Salehi and Kazakh officials will discuss issues of mutual interest.
