Jordan to deliver facilitation pack for Kuwaiti, GCC tourists to generate more income

Jordan will deliver a facilitation pack for Kuwait and GCC tourists since tourism has a great impact on the country's economy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al Fayez told KUNA on Tuesday. The minister said that Kuwaiti tourists are treated equally as the Jordanian citizens when it comes to paying taxes and fees. They are also offered great facilitations at border exit points and during their stay in the country. These facilitations are aim at prolonging the stay of tourists in the country, increasing their numbers as well as making Jordan a recurrent tourist destination. He noted, in a press conference late Monday, that al Qala'a nights festival will kick off during the holy month of Ramadan. It will generate more tourists into the country. On his part, CEO of Jordan's Zain said that the telecommunication company supports this festival out of the beleif that such activities would raise the level of performance of all the vital sectors, hence, bringing forth more economic benefits to the country. The number of tourists from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states has increases in comparison to that of last year. Since the beginning of 2012 until May, Jordan's income from tourism has increased 15.5 percent, generating USD 1.3 billion.
