The President of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar Abdulhakim rejected Wednesday evening the call by Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki for holding early general elections. "Such call is not a realistic solution for the current political crisis," Abdulhakim said in a celebration hosted by his office shortly after Al-Maliki made the call. The ISCI Chief said that they're as a political bloc are the first who would benefit from holding such election, but in reality it's not feasible nor it would serve best the Iraqi people. He noted that early election calls are in complete technical violation of the independent election higher commission, noting that the commission has expressed already lack financial assistance to its offices in various provinces. Abdulhakim added that consensus among various political parties is a prerequisite for such a move, otherwise holding early elections are unlikely to end the country's current political standoff.
