Zebari briefs FMs of Kuwait, Qatar, Russia, China over Iraq's position on Syria

Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari briefed the foreign ministers of Qatar, Kuwait, Russia and China as well as Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby about his country's position regarding the Syrian conflict. Zebari is in Geneva for a meeting of the Action Group over the Syrian conflict. He met with Qatari prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani, head of the Arab committee on Syria, Kuwait's Deputy Premier and Foreign minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, rotating president of the Arab League council, foreign ministers of Russia and China, and Al-Araby before the start of the Action Group meeting, the Iraqi foreign ministry said in a statement here. The meetings were held "upon desire of the delegations participating in the Action Group meeting over Syria, to know the position of Iraq as one of the key participants, president of the Arab summit and a neighboring country to Syria," it added. Iraq had expressed reservations over the arming of the Syrian opposition, and called for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Syria.
