Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi said Saturday
the armed forces have displayed a "unique" example in patriotism and respect
of will of people, which ultimately resulted in transfer of power from the
Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to an elected civilian president.
Addressing the armed forces during a celebration organized by SCAF after he
was sworn in as president before the constitutional court, Morsi said this was
a historic day "which Egypt have not witnessed before" and an evidence that
the people of Egypt were a single fabric.
"With extreme respect and appreciation, I accept the authority from Field
Marshal Hussein Tantawi and commanders of the armed forces ... to be
responsible over them as well as being responsible for the entire Egyptian
people," said Morsi. |
