The Lebanese army said Tuesday it was sending
reinforcements to the northern borders with Syria after an exchange of
cross-border fire killed two persons.
The army sent patrols and set-up check points near the borders following
the exchange of fire between the Syrian forces and armed men, and resulted in
the fall of bombs inside the Lebanese territories, the army said in a
statement.
The clashes took place in Wadi Khaled border area.
Army forces came under fire and retaliated, said the statement.
The army said the forces increased deployment to address the hostilities.
The Lebanese Red Cross said a Lebanese and a Syrian were killed due to the
hostilities in Wadi Khaled yesterday.
Wadi Khaled was also a scene of bombings which killed Lebanese citizens and
Syrian refugees, as well as injuring scores others. |
