Board Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society
(KRCS) Barjas Hmoud Al-Barjas announced Saturday the start of a national
fund-raising campaign for "the brotherly people of Syria."
"The campaign, being launched in collaboration with Kuwait TV, is part of
the humanitarian initiatives by the State of Kuwait to provide relief aid to
crisis-hit people in sisterly and friendly countries," Al-Barjas told
reporters here this evening.
He called on the Kuwaitis "who have a long history in philanthropic
activities," to donate to the campaign, noting that KRCS asserted its
efficiency in delivering aid to the disaster-hit people in several parts of
the world.
"The KRCS has high-skilled personnel who gained experience in quick
intervention, effective organization and crisis management through long years
of continuous relief effort," Al-Barjas affirmed.
He lauded the decision of the Ministry of Information to launch the
fund-raising campaign through Kuwait TV, saying: "The decision is a clear
manifestation of the humanitarian attitude of the Kuwaiti government and
people under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah
Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah."
Meanwhile, director of the KRCS crisis management division Yousof Al-Mi'raj
said the campaign aims basically to deliver assistance to the Syrian refugees
in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
"We are in contact with the Jordanian Red Crescent and the Lebanese Red
Cross to identify the needs of the Syrian refugees," he told KUNA.
"The KRCS welcomes donations by individuals and companies in two intervals;
in the morning and in the evening," Al-Mi'raj added. |
