Torrential rains led to serious flooding that
killed seven people and destroyed 350 houses in Wadi Joha area, Junaynah
province, West Darfur State, west Sudan, said local officials on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters tonight, Governor of the Province Ahmad Abdul-Qader
appealed for the international humanitarian organizations to provide aid to
the residents of the area who face risks of landslides in the current monsoon.
The levels of rains in this season reached 400 mm by the end of July,
Abdul-Qader, he said, noting that the monsoon lasts until late September.
The fatalities of floods in Sudan this year reached 12 in addition to the
heavy damage to the flora and fauna life. |
