About ten labourers were gunned down by
unidentified assailants in what appeared to be ethnic killing in Southwestern
Pakistani province of Baluchistan, which is becoming a hotbed of ethnic and
sectarian violence.
The killing took place in Dasht district of the province. According to
police sources, unidentified gunmen came down from surrounding mountains and
opened indiscriminate fire at labourers, who were working on a road.
Sources said that nine labourers died on the spot and five others received
serious injuries. One of the injured died on way to hospital, said sources,
adding, four of the other wounded are also said to be in critical condition.
No group claimed responsibility for the killing but police blamed Baluch
nationalist militants.
Police termed it an ethnic killing as most of the killed either belonged to
Punjab province or Hazaara community. |
