Kuwait affirms UN's "important role" to global peace, security

Representative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said the UN has "an important role" to safeguarding peace and security, and backing development around the globe. In a statement shortly after arrivin in New York to represent His Highness the Amir to 67th UN General Assembly (UNGA), Sheikh Jaber said Kuwait has always been keen on actively participating in UN meetings because it believed the UN has a great role to play amidst complex circumstances and challenges facing the world. Sheikh Jaber, who heads a high-ranking delegation, said Kuwait should speak out its visions vis-a-vis all international issues to ultimately achieve global security and stability. Kuwait has always been "an active and influential state within the international community via its initiatives and aid for the peoples of the world," said Sheikh Jaber. He added that Kuwait has always been backing UN's activities to achieve the international organization's "noble objectives for the wellbeing of mankind." The Prime Minister called on UN member countries to join hands for the sake of better life, dignity and prosperity of peoples of the world." Sheikh Jaber hoped the UN would continue its successes as the best multi-lateral body to addressing threats and crises.
