Kuwaiti talented shooter Zaid Al-Mutairi earned
the silver medal in the Skeet Men's competition at the ISSF World Cup stage in
San Marino, Italy, on Friday.
Al-Mutairi was second with a total score of 145 targets, only one disc
under Cypriot champion Georgios Achilleos, with third place going to Norway's
Tore Brovold.
The 27-year old Kuwaiti athlete won the second world cup medal of his
shooting career.
The win qualifies Al-Mutairi to take part in the World Shooting
Championship in Beijing, China, according to a statement from the Kuwait
Shooting Sport Federation (KSSF).
Congratulating Al-Mutairi on his win, KSSF President Duaij Al-Otaibi said
he dedicates the win to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince
and to the Kuwaiti people.
Al-Otaibi also expressed his gratitude to the Public Authority for Youth
and Sports (PAYS) for their efforts in easing procedures for the Kuwaiti team
during their participation.
After the competition intended as a warm-up, the young Kuwaiti shooter
along with more of his fellow compatriots will head to the West Asian
Championships in Iran on 19 July.
The World Cup stage is also considered a point-accumulating Olympic
qualifier for the games in London 2012. |
