Social Loans (Marriage Loan)

Service Description

  • The bank provides Kuwaiti citizens, in the case of their first marriage, with a social loan of up to 6,000 KD only. The Ministry of Finance pays 2,000 KD as a grant, and the borrower repays the remaining amount in equal monthly installments of 50 KD only, with no interest. The monthly deduction begins three months after the decision is issued.

Eligibility or Criteria

  • The loan is granted according to the following conditions:
  • The wife must be of Kuwaiti nationality on the date of marriage, except for individuals with (severe or moderate) disabilities.
  • The marriage date must not have been more than 3 years ago.
  • The husband must not have been previously married to a Kuwaiti woman and the three years referred to above has passed.
  • The husband must not have previously received a social loan.

For workers in the private sector, in addition to that, he must be registered with the Public Institution for Social Security. The salary requirement is waived for anyone who brings a guarantor who will jointly repay the loan in accordance with the previous controls and the controls stipulated in Article 10 of the regulations. The assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, as well as the disbursements from the Manpower Restructuring Program and the state executive apparatus to those laid off, are not considered salaries.
  • Special cases for social loans:
