The 19th Asian Men's Handball Championship (AMHC)
will kick off in Kuwait Thursday under the patronage of His Highness the Prime
Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The competitions will take place in the main hall of the Sheikh Saad
Al-Abdullah Complex for Indoor Sports at Sabah Al-Salem area, with the
participation of 13 teams.
The first group will include Bahrain, Iran, and New Zealand, The second
group: Qatar, Japan, and China teams. The third group will gather Saudi
Arabia, South Korea, and Australia. Meanwhile, the forth one will include
Kuwait, Hong Kong, Iraq, and UAE.
Tomorrow's matches will feature Kuwaiti against Iraq, UAE will play against
Hong Kong, while Bahrain will face New Zealand.
However, Qatar will meet China. While, Australia will play against South
Korea.
Kuwait Handball Association organized training camps for the national team
in Germany and Serbia, and held friendly matches against Macedonia and Kosovo.
Kuwait won the championship title four times: 1995, 2002, 2004 and 2006 and
hosted it twice in 1977 and 1995.
Four teams out of this tournament will qualify for the 2021 World Men's
Handball Championship, to be held in Egypt.
