Jordanian King Abdullah II received visiting President Alexander Stubb of Finland to discuss the bilateral relations and the latest developments of the situation in the Middle East. During the meeting at Al-Husseiniya Palace on Sunday, the King underscored the importance of bolstering the ceasefire between the United States and Iran in order to pave the way for ending the conflict and restoring stability in the region. He stressed the need of putting an end to the Israeli occupation aggression on Lebanon and helping the Arab country restore its security and sovereignty, according to a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court. He urged the international community to foil the attempts of the Israeli occupation to manipulate the current conditions in the region to impose a new fait accompli in the occupied holy city of Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Such serious designs risk undermining the prospects of peace and pushing the region into a vicious circle of conflict, the statement quoted King Abdullah II as saying. On the bilateral ties, the King said Jordan's strategic location added significance to the joint efforts to promote dialogue and finding peaceful solutions to regional problems. Jordan remains committed to backing up the international cooperation, particularly the joint efforts with Finland and the other EU member countries, to restore peace in the Middle East, he affirmed. On his part, President Stubb extolled the King for his wisdom and relentless efforts to stabilize the region. He said he was looking forward to hearing from the King about his perspective on the developments of the situation across the region, according to the royal statement.
