Morocco secure deserved FIFA World Cup draw against Brazil

The Atlas Lions opened their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a 1-1 draw against the five-time world champions Brazil. The Group C opener, played at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on Saturday night, saw Morocco dominating the first half. Brahim Diaz passed a wonderful through ball to Ismael Saibari who lifted it beyond the on-rushing Alisson and scored coolly at minute 21. Vinicius Jr was able split Morocco's defense and score the equalizer for Brazil at minute 32. Brazil and the Qatar 2022 semi-finalists traded blows in the second half and seemed satisfied with one point each at the end of the game. Scotland will face Haiti at another Group C showdown later Sunday.
