Russian President Vladimir Putin and US counterpart Donald Trump discussed a range of international issues on a phone call on Sunday, focusing on developments related to the anticipated peace agreement with Tehran, the crisis in Ukraine and bilateral relations.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov was quoted by Russia's TASS news agency as saying that the two leaders reviewed the US-Iran memorandum of understanding and developments in the Middle East amid international efforts to revive the diplomatic track concerning Iran's nuclear file.
According to Ushakov, President Putin expressed satisfaction over the containment of tensions involving Iran, while President Trump described reaching an agreement with Tehran as "difficult" but said it had produced an "acceptable outcome."
The talks also addressed the conflict in Ukraine, with both leaders exchanging views on ways to reduce tensions and prospects for a political settlement. Trump stressed the importance of ending hostilities and expressed readiness to influence European partners and Kyiv in support of peace efforts, while Putin reiterated Russia's positions regarding security issues linked to the crisis.
