Kuwait welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran on a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the resolution of several outstanding issues.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the role played by Pakistan, Qatar and other friendly and fraternal countries in helping bridge differences and facilitate the agreement.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait's support for resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
It expressed hope that the understanding would pave the way for broader efforts to address outstanding issues through sustainable solutions that promote good neighborliness, mutual respect, confidence-building and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
The ministry said such efforts would contribute to strengthening regional and international security and stability and ensuring continued freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait also called on all parties to engage in upcoming negotiations in a positive and constructive spirit to support cooperation, stability and prosperity for the peoples of the region and the world.
