The Kuwaiti national athletics team clinched a bronze medal on Wednesday, successfully concluding its campaign at the Arab Athletics Championships for U-16 and U-23 age groups hosted by Egypt. The podium finish raised Kuwait's final medal tally to 12 decorations, including three gold, five silver, and four bronze. Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) at the close of the tournament, Farouk Al-Shaer, Board Member of the Kuwait Athletics Federation and Head of the Media Committee, stated that decathlete Sultan Al-Rais secured the final bronze medal in the U-23 decathlon after registering a total of 5,921 points. Al-Shaer lauded the squad's impressive performance, highlighting that this tournament marked the inaugural international appearance for the U-16 athletes outside of Kuwait. Despite their lack of external exposure, the youth competitors successfully secured multiple podium finishes and clocked new personal bests. The official noted that the Federation had organized a 12-day intensive training camp in Egypt prior to the championship opener. The camp successfully conditioned the athletes for high-level continental competition and fostered stronger sportsmanship ties with fellow Arab nations. Al-Shaer extended his gratitude to the Egyptian Athletics Federation for its flawless organization and administrative facilitation, while also praising the Arab Athletics Federation for ensuring the logistical success of the regional event. The third edition of the Arab Athletics Championships for U-16 and U-23 divisions was contested at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia from June 20 to 24, featuring elite fields from 14 Arab national teams.
