Turkish, Canadian leaders discuss ties, regional, global issues

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Saturday discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and global issues over the phone, Turkiye's Communications Directorate said. During the phone conversation, the Turkish president said that his country is working to elevate relations in many areas, particularly trade, security, defense industry and energy, said the directorate in a statement on Turkish social media platform NSosyal. Erdogan also expressed hope that the July 7-8 NATO summit in Ankara would help promote cooperation among allies.
