1956 -- Khaled Al-Zaid Al-Khaled, the first board chairman of Kuwait Airways, passed away at age of 50. The deceased was a businessman who traded with pearls, textiles and food. 1960 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree renaming the department of courts to be the Department of Justice. 1960 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree assigning the Department of Knowledge with antiquities in the nation. 1967 -- Seven parliament members resigned in protest of results of elections held on January 25, 1967. 1986 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah opened a 300,000-Kuwaiti-Dinar Al-Ojairi Observatory, the largest in the Gulf region. 1988 -- Swimming Pools Complex opened for the public. The complex consisted of five pools with instructors teaching children and beginners how to swim. 1993 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah decorated US President George Bush with Mubarak AlKabeer Order in appreciation of his role in the liberation of Kuwait. 2004 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree paving way for establishment of Boubyan Bank with a capital of KD 100 million. 2004 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree establishing Jazeera Airways as a shareholding company with KD 10 million capital. 2008 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree to establish Kuwait College for Science and Technology that offered bachelor degrees in computer science and engineering, electronics and communications.
