Arab industrial, mining org. holds general assembly in Rabat

The 27th General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) kicked off in Rabat on Thursday, with Kuwait participating. "The organization is working to improve performance and implement programs and activities that keep pace with developments and regional and international economic changes in a way that meets the aspirations of Arab member states," AIDSMO Director General Adel Al-Sager said in the inaugural speech. He pointed out that AIDSMO is keen to introduce technical programs and activities of high added value to serve development in member states in the fields of industrial development, specifications, standards and mineral resources. Al-Sager noted that the organizations attaches great importance to activities and initiatives that help strengthen joint cooperation among member states and develop partnerships with relevant international and regional organizations. On the organization activities since the last general assembly, Al-Sager unveiled that the AIDSMO launched a number of initiatives, programs and publications including the Arab initiative for minerals used in clean energy technologies, the Atlas of industrial rocks, the Arab Halal program, the Arab Initiative for food code and the Arab industry report. The organization also launched a digital platform for requests and offers for Arab industrial and mining products, namely Apip online, which hosts data of more than 20,000 industrial and mining enterprises and online stores in order to help Arab industrialists to promote and market their products, he added. Kuwait's delegation to the meeting is headed by Deputy Director-General of the Industrial Cities Sector at the Public Authority for Industry Dr. Sanad Al-Ajmi.
