Service Description

  • This service allows citizens to obtain licenses to open optical stores in the civil sector to practice optometry, and prepare medical glasses and contact lenses

Eligibility or Criteria

  • The applicant must be a Kuwaiti citizen who has a commercial license, or a Kuwaiti company
  • An optometrist must be employed

Required Documents

  • Approvals of Kuwait Fire Service ‎Directorate, Kuwait Municipality, and the Environment Public Authority on the store location
  • Approval of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry
  • Approval of the Medical License Committee
  • Letter requesting an optical store license
  • Store plans
  • Document stating the applicant's contribution in the Public Authority for Social Securities
  • Signature authorization document from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor
  • Certificate of good conduct for the authorized signatory
  • Attested company contract
  • Copy of the applicant's nationality certificate
  • Applicant's civil ID
  • One (1) personal photo for the applicant

Procedures

Visit the Medical License Department of the Ministry of Health and submit the required documents
Fill the service application form
Pay the fees due
Obtain the primary approval of the Medical License Committee and the approvals of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Municipality, Kuwait Fire Service ‎Directorate, and the Environment Public Authority
Start preparing the store. After finishing the store preparations, primary and final inspections will be made to confirm that the store meets the conditions. After employing the technical labour, the license to open the store will be issued

(250) KD Fixed Fees: First time license of optical stores selling medical glasses and contact lenses
(100) KD Fixed Fees: Renewal of license of optical stores selling medical glasses and contact lenses
