Govt. Residence Article 17

Service Description

  • This service enables Government Residence procedures in accordance with Article 17 of the Executive Regulations of the Law on the Residence of Foreigners, including the following services:
  • Govt. Residence First Time
  • Govt. Residence Renewal
  • Govt. Residence Cancellation
  • Transfer Residence from Govt. (Article 17) to Private (Article 18)
  • Transfer Residence from Govt. (Article 17) to Family (Article 22)
  • Transfer Residence from Govt. (Article 17) to Govt. (Article 17)

Eligibility or Criteria

  • The residence application form must be signed by the sponsor.​

Required Documents

  • Required Documents for Each Service:
  • Govt. Residence First Time
  • The designated residence application form, duly approved by the government entity.
  • The work entry visa used by the sponsored person to enter the country.
  • A letter from the government entity indicating the required period of residence.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • The original passport and a copy thereof.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • A criminal record certificate issued by the competent authorities.
  • A medical examination certificate issued by the competent authorities.
  • Govt. Residence Renewal
  • The designated application form for renewal of residence.
  • A letter from the government entity indicating the required period of residence.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • The original passport and a copy thereof.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • Govt. Residence Cancellation
  • The designated application form for cancellation of residence.
  • A letter from the government entity indicating the date of end of service.
  • The original passport and a copy thereof.
  • The original Civil ID.
  • The residence permits of dependants (children / spouse) must be cancelled before cancellation of the residence permit of the person concerned.
  • The passports and Civil IDs of persons sponsored by the employee.
  • A temporary residence permit for a specified period may be granted based on the request of the government entity.
  • Transfer Residence from Govt. (Article 17) to Private (Article 18)
  • The designated application form for transfer of residence.
  • A letter from the government entity approving the transfer of sponsorship and indicating the date of end of service.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • The original passport and a copy thereof.
  • A work permit issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, or as verified through the computerized system.
  • Criminal record certificate.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • The passport and Civil IDs of persons sponsored by the employee.
  • The original Civil ID.
  • A valid signature authorization and a copy thereof.
  • A copy of the representative’s ID.
  • Transfer Residence from Govt. (Article 17) to Family (Article 22)
  • The designated residence application form.
  • A letter from the government entity approving the transfer of sponsorship and indicating the date of end of service.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • The original passport and a copy thereof.
  • The original Civil ID.
  • A salary certificate for the sponsor in the government sector, or a work permit for the sponsor in the private sector, provided that the salary is not less than KWD 450.
  • Proof of kinship certificate.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • A copy of the sponsor’s Civil ID.
  • Transfer Residence from Govt. (Article 17) to Govt. (Article 17)
  • The designated application form for transfer of sponsorship, duly approved by the previous government entity confirming its waiver.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • The original passport and a copy thereof.
  • A letter from the government entity to which the employee has been transferred, indicating the required period of residence.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • The original Civil ID.

Procedures

The application may be submitted through the Sahel App (Residence Services) or in person, in accordance with the following procedures: 
The applicant shall bring the required documents and visit the General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents in the relevant governorate. 

The designated service form shall be completed. ​

The prescribed fees for the service shall be paid.​
