Private Residence Article 18

Service Description

  • This service enables work residence procedures in accordance with Article 18 of the Executive Regulations of the Law on the Residence of Foreigners, including the following services:
  • Private Residence First Time.
  • Private Residence Renewal
  • Private Residence Cancellation
  • Transfer Residence from Private (Article 18) to Govt. (Article 17)
  • Transfer Residence from Private (Article 18) to Family (Article 22).

Eligibility or Criteria

  • The residence application form must be signed by the sponsor.​

Required Documents

  • Required Documents for Each Service:
  • Private Residence First Time:
  • The designated residence application form, duly signed by the sponsor.
  • The original work entry visa used by the sponsored person upon entering the country.
  • A criminal record certificate, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the sponsored person’s country and by the Embassy of the State of Kuwait, and translated in the case of non-Arab nationals, provided that it is valid for three months from the date of issuance.
  • A medical fitness certificate.
  • A criminal status report.
  • Two original personal photographs.
  • A valid signature authorization of the sponsor and a copy thereof.
  • The original passport of the sponsored person.
  • The work permit issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, as verified through the computerized system.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • Private Residence Renewal:
  • The designated residence application form, duly signed by the sponsor.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • A valid signature authorization and a copy thereof.
  • The original passport of the sponsored person.
  • The work permit issued by the Public Authority for Manpower, or as verified through the computerized system.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • A copy of the representative’s ID.
  • Private Residence Cancellation:
  • The designated residence application form, duly signed by the sponsor.
  • The sponsor’s signature authorization and a copy thereof.
  • The original passport of the sponsored person.
  • The original Civil ID of the sponsored person.
  • The work permit cancellation form issued by the Public Authority for Manpower, as verified through the computerized system.
  • The passports and original Civil IDs of persons sponsored by the resident, if any.
  • Transfer Residence from Private (Article 18) to Govt. (Article 17):
  • The designated sponsorship transfer application form, signed by the previous sponsor as a waiver and by the government entity as approval for the transfer.
  • A letter from the government entity indicating the required period.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • A valid signature authorization of the previous sponsor and a copy thereof.
  • The original passport of the sponsored person.
  • The work permit cancellation and transfer form issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, as verified through the computerized system.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • The original Civil ID.
  • A valid ID of the representative of the government entity, issued by his employer.
  • Transfer Residence from Private (Article 18) to Family (Article 22):
  • The sponsorship transfer application form, signed by the previous sponsor as a waiver and by the new sponsor as approval.
  • Two personal photographs with a blue background, size 4 × 6 cm.
  • The previous sponsor’s signature authorization and a copy thereof.
  • The original passport of the sponsored person.
  • The work permit cancellation and transfer form issued by the Public Authority for Manpower, pursuant to a letter issued by the competent Immigration Department approving the transfer.
  • Health insurance certificate.
  • The original Civil ID of the sponsored person.
  • A salary certificate for the sponsor in the government sector, or a work permit for the sponsor in the private sector, provided that the salary is not less than KWD 450.
  • Proof of kinship.
  • The sponsor’s Civil ID and a copy thereof.

Procedures

The application may be submitted through the Sahel App (Residence Services) or in person, in accordance with the following procedures: 
The applicant shall bring the required documents and visit the General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents in the relevant governorate. 

The designated service form shall be completed. ​

The prescribed fees for the service shall be paid.​
